• Bigger Sky Kids in Wolf Point, Montana

Located just north of the Missouri River on the high plains of northeastern Montana, Wolf Point sits on the Fort Peck Reservation—home to the Assiniboine and Sioux nations. In the 2020 census, more than 50% of residents identified as American Indian. Another 36%, some of whom trace their roots back to early homesteaders, identified as White.

Wolf Point is in the middle of nowhere. It is a long ways away from everywhere. The largest town within 100 miles is Williston, North Dakota. It’s 93 miles away. The nearest city of any size is Regina, Saskatchewan. It’s 173 miles away. Billings, the urban hub for eastern Montana, is nearly 300 miles from here. In our remote community, there was no organization of any kind that offered regular arts programming for children in the lower grades.

Bigger Sky Kids is a 501(c)3 nonprofit for after-school arts education incorporated in 2017 in the state of Montana and launched in 2018. We serve as many Wolf Point children from grades 4 through 8 as staff and funding permit. B!SK’s program is cost-free to participating families. There are no ethnic, gender, means or other tests for participation.
